Contractors · remote-first

Job cash flow you can actually read.Deposits, materials, subs—on the books.

Done-for-you bookkeeping for contractors and trade businesses—clients nationwide. Essentials $99/month.

Customer deposits, material runs, 1099 subcontractors, progress draws, and truck/equipment loans don’t fit a retail chart of accounts. We keep contractor books practical so you know whether the month was profitable—not just busy.

What we handle for contractors

Trade cash flow needs trade-aware categories.

Busy jobs don’t equal clear profit without structure.

  • Job costing / WIP awarenessCompany-level books with awareness of deposits, progress, and unfinished work—full job-cost ERP is a separate conversation.
  • Deposits vs. progress billingCustomer deposits and stage draws kept from inflating “free” revenue.
  • Materials vs. laborSupplier runs and labor coded so margin conversations aren’t guesswork.
  • 1099 subcontractors + year-end 1099sConsistent vendor coding during the year so 1099 prep isn’t a December panic.
  • Vehicle, equipment & retainageNotes, interest, retainage, and seasonal cash-flow patterns reflected on monthly statements.
  • S-Corp owner pay vs. drawsOwner compensation treated consistently with your entity—tax structuring fits a CPA intro or Complete planning.
How it usually works / typical pain

Cash comes in waves. Books should still make sense.

Deposits feel like profit

Misclassified deposits and draws hide retainage and unfinished work. We keep cash timing understandable.

Materials and vendors blur together

Big-box runs, specialty suppliers, and rentals need structure—even when full job-cost modules are out of scope.

Subs and 1099 season scramble

Paying crews correctly starts with consistent coding all year—not a year-end fire drill.

Seasonal cash & owner draws

Slow months and owner draws vs. payroll confuse many operators. Consistency beats improvisation.

Industry FAQ

Before you get started.

Do you do full job costing by project?

Standard Essentials/Plus/Complete packages deliver monthly company financials—not a full construction job-cost ERP. Many contractors get clarity from clean books plus their own job tracking. Heavier job-cost setups can be discussed on an intro call.

Can you help organize sales tax on materials?

Sales-tax filings are not included in monthly bookkeeping packages. We can keep purchase activity organized in the books; filing and remittance are separate if you need that service.

What if I’m still on a shoebox / spreadsheet mix?

That’s common. We start from bank and card feeds, ask clarifying questions in the portal, and quote any historical catch-up before monthly service begins.

Owner draws vs. payroll—what’s right?

It depends on your entity. We keep books consistent with how you’ve set compensation; tax structuring questions are a good fit for a free CPA intro or Complete plan planning.
